Gordon Johnson is a versatile, multi-media model maker. He graduated in painting and textile design, from York School of Art in 1960. Having gained his Art Teacher's Diploma in 1961 at Sheffield University, he embarked on a teaching career. In 1963 he left England when appointed Head of the Art Department, at Enniskillen Collegiate Girls Grammar School. Success is the prestigious Gallagher's National Portrait Painting Competition, led to him being described as one of Northern Ireland's leading portrait painters. Model Maker
His interests, however, at the time were in the manufacture of automata. This led to some precise, often, inspired model making. In the early 1980's architects and museums were commissioning work, so in 1986 he took early retirement from teaching, to satisfy the demand.
