| WORKSHOPS SPINNING WEAVING and NATURAL DYEING SPINNING
and WEAVINGThe Ardess flock of Jacob sheep provides the raw material for Dorothy's teaching and her commissions.Ashford wheels are used for spinning. In a day you can acquire the spinning knack. Weaving is more complicated, it takes a day to set up a loom. You could have a weaving "experience" in one day, by using a warp on a table loom. Natural dyeing could also be incorporated in a woolcraft course. These courses are usually designed for the individual student. Jacob sheep are an ancient breed favoured by hand spinners for the natural colours in the fleece. There are tones between black and white. Dorothy makes use of these tones in her wall hangings and rugs of Fermanagh landscapes. THROUGHOUT THE YEAR THE CRAFT CENTRE IS OPEN FOR* spinning and weaving lessons* spinning demonstrations for groups (30 max)* wall hanging and rug commissions. |
